Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hand Camp?

Our annual camp is designed for children aged 4 years and older who are born with or experiencing an upper limb difference. Campers can bring up to 3 immediate family members. Camp is designed to be a safe inclusive space for kids to participate in traditional camp activities such as outdoor games and arts & crafts.

How Much Does Camp Cost?

Camp is completely free for all families, thanks to the generous support of our donors and sponsors.

Is this camp a good fit for my child?

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, the camp is best suited for children who can move around independently and participate in group activities. If you’re not sure whether Hand Camp is the right fit for your child, we’d love to chat and answer any questions you might have! This camp is not designed for children with neurologic disorders such as brachial plexus injuries or cerebral palsy but we would be happy to share some resources for camps designed for them!

Is this a day camp or overnight camp?

We currently offer a one day camp but are exploring the possibility of hosting overnight camps in the mountains in the future!

Is food provided at camp?

We will provide snacks, drinks, and lunch. If you have any dietary restrictions or special requirements, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate.

What do you do at camp?

We organize a variety of outdoor activities for all campers, including relay races, sports, games, a talent show, arts and crafts, and a skills station. While the kids are engaged in play, parents participate in breakout sessions focused on discussing potential challenges and strategies for overcoming them.

Where is camp located?

In 2025, our camp will be held at the Buell Mansion in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado.

What should we bring to camp?

Please wear weather appropriate clothing and feel free to bring any items you might need to enjoy outdoor activities, such as hats, sunglasses, or sunscreen.

Who volunteers at camp?

Our dedicated volunteers include adults with upper limb differences who serve as inspiring mentors, healthcare professionals, and members of the general public, all working together to support and enrich the camp experience. Background checks are performed on all volunteers.

What if my child is under 4 years old?

Throughout the year, we plan to organize gatherings for families with children of all ages. These events could include activities like a picnic in the park.

Do we need to be from Colorado?

Nope! We welcome campers from all locations!
